What
Damage to pigeons do?
Pigeon droppings on roof tops, and AC units. Fouling
occurs where pigeons nest or roost. Apart from being very
nasty to look at, the acidic pigeon droppings can erode concrete,
paint, and stone work resulting in costly damage to your building
and equipment. Gutters can become blocked with pigeon fouling
causing many water damage problems. Fire escapes can become
coated with pigeon droppings, making them unsafe to use. Pigeon
droppings can also cause major problems with AC units and
electrical systems.
What
bait should I use for my pigeons traps?
Pigeons love whole corn, pop corn and about any kind of bread.
In the wild, they will eat virtually anything offered to them.
Most areas with pigeon problems are commercial areas such
as city parks, down town roof tops, and anywhere pigeons are
feed or find feed left by humans.
Where
should I place pigeons
traps?
Pigeons can be placed on flat on the ground where pigeons
feed, or on flat roof tops where the pigeons roost. They will
enter the traps readily when they see corn or bread. Prebait
an area with corn or bread to accustom the pigeons to feeding
in the same area. Most of the pigeons will be captured in
the first few days. You can leave several pigeons in the pigeon
traps to serve as decoys to lure the other pigeons into the
pigeon trap. Water should be provided in a bowl inside the
pigeon trap. Visit the pigeon trap every day to remove the
trapped pigeons and to add bait & water as needed. If
you are baiting the pigeons in a area with direct sun, place
something on top of the pigeon trap to provide shade for the
trapped pigeons.

Safeguard
and Professional Pigeon Traps
Safeguard manufactures 2 different types of pigeon traps
that can hold as many as 30 pigeons at a time, depending
on the trap size. All Pigeon Traps make it easy to control
the pigeon population on any property.
Pigeons enter the traps through one way special pigeon
trap doors. The unique slanted design of the repeating
doors encourages pigeons to move forward and enter the
pigeon trap as they eat the bread or corn. The special
pigeon trapping mechanism of the door automatically resets
after each pigeon is caught, and prevents the trapped
pigeons from escaping. A convenient top release door is
also located on all of the Pigeon Traps. This provides
easy access to the trapped pigeons. For optimal trapping
conditions, the area where a Pigeon Trap will be placed
should be pre-baited for several days before the pigeon
trap is introduced. Grain, corn or dried bread should
be used for bait. After the pigeons become familiar with
the new eating spot, place one of the Pigeon Traps over
the feed. Bait the pigeon trap with a trail of bread on
the outside of the pigeon trap and leading into the trap
doors. Make sure to place the majority of the bait inside
the pigeon trap. We also recommend pre-baiting the pigeon
trap for several days, or until the pigeons become familiar
with walking in and out of the pigeon trap. To pre-bait
the trap, tie-up the pigeon trap doors. The pigeons will
eat the bread and move freely in and out of the trap as
they eat. After the pigeons become familiar with the trap,
untie the doors. Remember to always check your Pigeon
Traps on a daily basis. |
